Biotechnology Seminars and Events

All biotechnology events are only open to biotechnology students. Our events are not open to the public unless otherwise noted.

 

 

Fall 2016 Events

 

 

Student Happy Hour/Mixer

Date: Monday, September 26, 2016

Time: 4:00 - 6:00pm

Location: 225 Towne (Raisler Lounge)

Details: Get together/mingle with all biotechnology students.

Please note this event is only for biotechnology students.

 

 

 

Coffee Chat

Date: Wednesday, October 26th, 2016

Time: 6:00 - 8:00pm

Location: Greenburg Lounge

Details: Not sure which classes to take next semester and would like to talk to some other biotech students about it?  Just need a break after midterms ended?  The BSA will be holding a coffee chat/registration help and we will be providing drinks and snacks!  Even if you know your schedule, come and stop by to talk to other students and help them!  Or just grab some snacks!



Summer Internship Panel

Details:
Focusing on first year students, come and talk to some 2nd year students who have been through the process of applying to and completing a summer internship. The panelists are still TBD but it will be a great way to get some of your questions answered!
For 2nd year students: BSA is still looking for 2-3 more students to be on the panel. Each panelist will get a small token for participating. If you are interested, please send the BSA board an email with "Summer Internship Panel" in the subject line.


 


Industry Alumni Panel

Location: Singh Center
Details: This year, we will have the pleasure of hosting six different biotech alumni from different industries who will be coming back to talk to us about their experiences and answer any questions we may have for them. For second years and above, this is a great opportunity to network and for first years, this will be a chance to see where our degree can take you before finalizing your spring classes or summer internship choices! Dinner will be provided and there will be raffle prizes. Dress: Business Casual
RSVP is needed to ensure that enough food will be available for all. Please only RSVP if you know you can make it. If for some reason you are unable to attend after RSVPing, please email BSA to let us know!

 

 

Holiday/End of Semester Party

Details: BSA will hold a Journal club offering the chance to present your idea, projects, homework or anything you want to others. For those who would like to watch and learn from others` presentations, Journal club also welcomes your arrival. Free cookies are offered, so get something to eat and enjoy the presentations! In Journal club, you can either be a presenter or an audience, or even be both of them. Please RVSP.

ACS-Biotech Joint Event

Date: Friday, March 3, 2017

Time: 3:00-5:00pm

Location: Berger Auditorium in Skirkanich Hall, Room 13

Details: ACS-BIOT Mid-Atlantic Student Chapter and the Penn Biotechnology Student Association will be holding a joint event on Advances in Cancer Immunotherapy. The event will include expert speakers from industry and academia, panel discussions, and networking. Refreshmentswill be served during the event and ther will be a post-event happy hour for additional networking.

There will be a $5 registration fee which includes 1-year membership in the ACS-BIOT student chapter (http://www.acsbiot.org/index.php/index.php/mid-atlantic-local). Registration can be done either on the eventbrite site (https://www.eventbrite.com/e/upenn-biot-bsa-scientific-networking-event-tickets-31817823968), or by e-mail to (shuzhu@seas.upenn.edu or rossijas@seas.upenn.edu). Payment is not required at the time of registration - the fee can be paid in cash at the event, or through a payment method set up at a later date.
